I see your dilemma. I just tried this. If you merge from Query does it
override the editing from Query? If not, can you use an edit word in Query?
If it does override, then can you convert from the 8 digit into a real date
field, (within Query) and see what kind of editing you get?

Subject: Date format in Officevision/400

Good morning,

I have an officevision document that retrieves data from a physical
file. In that file there is a numeric field with a length of 8, whom
content represents a date in format YYYYMMDD.
Does anyone know how to represent this number as a date in the document
(with separators)? i.e.: YYYY-MM-DD or YYYY/MM/DD.
If I edit the field as a date, the two first numbers are truncated.

Thank you very much.
