We did two LPAR implementations as part of the V4R4 beta program in Rochester. LPAR works great, although it's difficult to understand and configure. Get ALL the manuals and READ, READ, READ. From a performance perspective, the performance improves in the parts of the system. When you last two 720-2062's together (CPW 420), you get one (two way) 720 2063 (CPW 810). This means that you are paying a CPW penalty of 30 CPW. When you partition a 720-2063 into two partitions, each partition gets a CPW of 420! There is no configurator support for LPAR, although the LPAR technical people in Rochester are very helpful. LPAR requires a definitive understanding of what hardware in on the AS/400, and most AS/400 customers do not have this understanding.
