Two ides:
1.  Create your "script" in a source file or data base file and then before
you issue the FTP command in your CL program do an override like this:
OVRDBF FILE(INPUT) TOFILE(YOURLIB/YOURFILE) MBR(YOURMBR).  Then all the
input will be read from your file.  If you do not wish the FTP output to go
to your screen you can  also override the file OUTPUT to a file, and then
print it out so you have a record.  Checking for a successful completion is
very difficult.
2.  You can check out commercial products that will also help such as
TrailBlazer Systems (www.softwarejungle.com) or Patrick Townsend and
Associates (http://www.patownsend.com).  The commercial products will allow
you to monitor for events (successful transfer) using monmsg commands in CL,
then you can check to see if all is OK or perform some sort of recovery.
