Do u mean the RPG CLEAR op code, doesnt work on subfiles.

What u need to clear a subfile based on the following DDS,
eg. subfile record name is SFL and the control record is SFLCTL
is
C           SETOF        5051
C           SETON       52
C           WRITE    SFLCTL
0036.00      A  50                                  SFLDSP
0037.00      A  51                                  SFLDSPCTL
0038.00      A  52                                  SFLCLR
0039.00      A  53                                  SFLEND(*MORE)
