You know I started to mention that that would be the ONLY concern that I could
come up with (but I got off on the "we only have one tape unit" deal)...

I plead ignorance with these tape units. Last job we had upgrade through the 
3480
to the 3490 and then to the 3590 (MAN did I LOVE that thing ! Fasttttttt...
<BG>). If  D/R sites have an 8mm drive, would this NOT be compatible unless it 
is
the EXACT same drive ? I would think IBM would keep this consistent with tape
classes but have my doubts in the vague wording in the help text (?)
