Bob,

Sorry for the delay in answering, however we have clients that are running
much the same scenario that you are describing with much less horsepower.
I think you need to investigate a certified Domino administrator, and a
very good AS/400 system administrator to take a look at the system before
making any major changes. One of our clients was getting 2 -3 minute
response times from a Domino application served over the web. After tuning
the AS/400 and the Domino servers, we were able to get response time at
the browser to under 5 seconds. The also run all of the other features of
Domino, mail, calendar, etc with sub second response time, with a
comparable box.

I would suggest someone local to you, so support in the long run will not
be a problem

Good Luck

Glen,
Thanks for the reply, it was very helpful. I don't know much about
performance ratings, but you confirmed my suspicions about memory, Domino,
and such. I think I may have made a mistake going to Domino for what I
wanted to accomplish. I also had a mistake on my order which brought me a
machine with 10mb nics instead of 10/100. I may have to change that soon.
I am impressed with what you have described, because much of it is what I
would like to accomplish. I too hope to convert soon to V4R4 so I can
handle
multiple domains through the firewall. I have not had/taken the time to
review/understand our AS/400 firewall settings to enable email and Client
Access over the Internet. If you have any tips on that, I would greatly
appreciate them. You may email them direct to me. I will understand if you
don't give out specifics.
Thanks again, you were a big help.
