It is the throwaway society we live in today--No elders on the front porch
for ppl to learn from.

And alas, as a nation and a profession we are the worse for it.. It is
easier to forget the
accomplishments of Capt Grace....and Van Nuemann and the others who have
gone before
Hollerith has given as much to ur profession as Bill Gates... As Santyana
said.. if we ignore
the past, we are destined to repeat the mistakes (paraphrased)

My heart weeps for the loss of tradition...and how facile the ppl who think
their current status
will be of great import.

A hundred years from now.. It won't make any difference.

I love this list and consider myself fortunate to be on it... but please
dont forget the past
