Get this! (I AM NOT MAKING THIS UP!) Several years ago, I went to work for a company as a contractor. My first day there they handed the payroll over to me. Literally. The company's VP of Finance didn't want any employees (except for her and the payroll clerk) to have access to any of the data! I was told to not ask why. Even my supervisor, the MIS director, wasn't allowed to see any of this. I wasn't real comfortable with the possible implications, so I told _MY_ employer what was going on. Never had any problems, thank goodness! - Dan Bale >>HERE! HERE! I was in a situation were a company wanted me to work on there payroll system, but would not give me authority to the files I needed. O.K. to write the application from copies of the file structures, but without actual data, it made it hard to test certain things that ended up blowing up in production runs when unexpected data conditions came up. I told them I don't care what anyone else makes, only that I am at (or at least close) to market value.<< +--- | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +---
