A few things to keep in mind. 1. You will have to license software for whichever box you take. The system enforces you to have a valid license to OS/400 on all RISC boxes, and on the 14 most popular licensed program products in V4R4. The model 500 is in the P20 tier, and the model 400 is in the P10 tier. 2. The Model 500 puts out too much heat for home use. For what you are going to have to pay, you may find that you are better to buy a new model 170 with server characteristics, more performance and a P05 tier.
