Regarding software charges for these systems, from the IBM AS/400 Quick
Pricer it indicates an
"Accomodation Charge" (interesting terminology) of $9,000 for the P10
(400-2131) and $26,000 for
the P20 (500-2141). Quoting the quick pricer....."The Accomodation Charge
ONLY applies to 4xx or
5xx systems acquiring a NEW Version 4 License".

You may want to consider a new/used 150/170 with an existing license after
you add up the
"Accomodation Charge" and the Software Subscription Agreement.....you may
find the 150/170 to be a more price attractive option, and still be in a
RISC system.

500,need a bit of
sensible advise!!!

Hi all,

I have a rare opportunity of purchasing from the company I work for a
Model 500-2141 128M ram, (no hardrives or ethernet card) CPW 30.7

the other choice is a Model 400- 2131 (no hardrives or ethernet card) CPW
20.6.

these are for home use --I can get harddrives from my old model 200cisc
system -so thats not a problem. My question is which one should I
choose????????????
Both will be the same price more or less
Should I bust a leg and buy both?
Whats a fair price to offer? (US market close is close to ours)please note
these have no OS400 ,but this is a rare opportunity to own a Risc system.I
really want these so I need a bit of sensible advise. I have to act ASAP
on
this

kind reguards Dave
