Re: Printing last page first

this is the right approach. I had to do a similar function for Shell Oil. Xerox
sold them a 4050, saying it would print duplex. Only problem, it would not do
duplex, on legal paper, for Head-to-foot binding (Stapled on to edge instead of
side)

We sent data to a outq, NEP picked up spool fil, converted to PF, then sent
message to another NEP. Second NEP would read thru first page, placing in new
spool file. Then next (odd) page would load into an array. then the fun began.
All print attributes had start and end codes (DJDE statements). We would have to
flip data left for right, top for bottom. (Only 1 statement if we had been using
APL!). Then we had to swap print attributes beginning with ending. finally, we
scanned for all Font selections, and converted them to select a special rotated
font that Xerox was forced to build for us. The font consisted of letters that
were rotated 180 degrees as I recall.

Now, a totally different solution. JUNK THE INSERTER. they are usually
cantankerous machines, and there is always ONE key person that can make it purr.
until they leave the company, call in sick, get promoted, etc. Generate the 
spool
data to a file, then FTP to a company that specializes in printing bills, and 
let
them deal with it. I did just this for a major telco client, and it was cheaper
than maint on the eqipment, upgrades for higher future volumes, and employee
salaries! As I recall, the company we used was Sterling in St. Louis, but there
are several. check it out.
