Jack:
What type of app do you wish
to run for the user to access over the Internet? Is it a client server
app, a Java app or do you just want to allow access to a green screen emulation
session over the internet? There are a zillion ways to do some of
this.
1. If you only want green screen access but want it
started from a web page so each user or potential user does not need a TN5250
emulator, you could try mochsoft's JAVA TN5250 emulator. you can server
the Java applet from a web page and the emulator is loaded to the client PC from
the web page as a Java applet and then presto, you get an AS400 signon
screen. If is really pretty slick.
2. If you want a more GUI feel to current apps, you
could use a TN5250 emulator that does 5250 to HTML emulator on the fly, the
bosanova TCP/IP product does a pretty good job of this, or you could use IBM's
WSG (workstation gateway, which will do the 5250 to HTML into a web
browser)
3. you could convert your apps to Java clients.... but
that is a discussion best left for one of the smart guys on this list....... I
have exhausted my knowledge. I hope some of it is of help to
you.
BTW, std disclaimer, I don't
work for or have any relationship with the product mentioned above. You
can find mocha at www.mochasoft.dk and
bosanova at www.bosanova.com
