Here's my problem for the connexion gurus on the list. I created several *LAN TCP/IP printers (ordinary & IPDS) via CRTDEVPRT, each one with its own IP address. All printers are HP or Lexmark, ethernet 10/100, local or remote. Everything is working fine ... but the writers are dropped several times a day. The bug occurs when a first file is to be printed, having the message : __________________________________________________ Message ID . . . . . . : PQT3621 Severity . . . . . . . : 40 Message type . . . . . : Information Message . . . . : The session with device xxxxx ended abnormally. Cause . . . . . : The session with device xxxxx at RMTLOCNAME 199.202.202.43, using PORT 9100, ended abnormally. The error code is 20, which indicates one of the following conditions: 20-39: A communications failure occurred. 40-59: An internal failure occurred. Recovery . . . : For error codes 20-39, check for problems in your network. After correcting the problem, start the printer writer ( ... ) __________________________________________________ I checked all parms, nothing seems to be wrong. The network guys confirmed having no problem from their part. I extended my tests and defined remote IP OUTQs on the same printers. They work OK and are always ON, as they don't have any printer writer attached. But I cannot use them in IPDS, so I return to the need of having IP printer writers ... When I restart the writer, all accumulated spools in OUTQ are printed normally. But I know next time it will behave the same and the connexion will be dropped. Any ideas ???
