The source member type is not significant. I usually use SQL, but the
system doesn't care. You can execute a source member with the RUNSQLSTM
command. You can also compile the SQL with the CRTQMQRY command, and then
execute it with STRQMQRY. The problem with both of these approaches is that
they will only handle 2000 bytes of SQL statement. SQL  itself is capable
of processing a 32767 bytes, but in order to use this capability, you need
to provide a program which processes the source member and executes the
command. This is certainly possible to do, but the error handling logic can
get a bit tedious.
