I want to do this... but I need help with the basics. I've got an AS on an ethernet, and a SLIP connection. I'm assuming that I can dial in on SLIP, but I haven't found this to be very reliable (V3R7M0). So I need to set up a CISCO router (or alternative?) that has a modem and ethernet card. I dial into the router and, without any Netware or NT servers, my Nokia can just telnet to the AS400? But can I do it with a PC acting as a router? ie PC is connected to modem and ethernet, and I dial into the PC and have telnet access? I expect servers would do this, but what about a simple Win95/Win98/Linux PC? I like the option of a PC mainly because of the flexibility - for instance I could have caller-id installed to reject unrecognised phone numbers. Just a few days ago i got my brand new NOKIA 9110 GSm telephone. It's very impressive. I used the telnet application to connect remotely to my WAN via our CISCO routers.(mainly through our CISCO 3640) I can manage IOS CISCo software very well, but problems begin when i try to connect to my AS400 because the telnet inside my NOKIA 9110 is a normal VT100 telent and so i can only use PF1,PF2,PF3, and PF4. So i can connect, but i can only give some commands but without all the other PF functions is very hard. (I can't give page down or up too) Does anyone know a secondary way to give the AS400 command like page down or up, PF5----PF24????? I know that's athe VT100 problem and so I'm asking nokia to give me a better telnet for emulate my AS400 but I'm a little man against a very big company. Please send me suggestion....
