We are using the 3590. It is very fast, providing you have a 400 that can
drive
the beast. For example, using the same tape drive, here is a comparison of a

Subject: 3480 tape drive

I have been charged with looking into the possibility of purchasing a 3480 or
3490 tape drive for our AS/400 model 620. It has to be one of these models (or
one that uses the very same cartridges in the very same format) as we exchange
tapes with a couple of customers who use the 3480. Has anyone on the list had
experience with these models or with like models from other companies? Were
they reliable?

Thanks.
