You can set up relations using DDS or certain SQL statements like CREATE INDEX and CREATE VIEW. The beauty of the DDS is that it can do both functions of the SQL. Many people find this easier to recreate. Study the concept 'Join Logical File'. Two manuals: DDS reference http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/pubs/html/as400/v4r4/ic2924/info/db2/rbafpmst02.htm AS/400 database programming http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/pubs/html/as400/v4r4/ic2924/info/db2/rbafomst02.htm Sample TABLEA has the following columns, among others: CMCUST - Customer number CMNAME - Customer name TABLEB has the following columns, among others: STCUST - Ship to customer number STNBR - ship to number STADR1 - ship to address 1 The DDS for the logical file would look like: A JDFTVAL A DYNSLT A R VIEWR JFILE(TABLEA TABLEB) A J JOIN(1 2) A JFLD(CMCUST STCUST) A CMCUST JREF(1) A CMNAME JREF(1) A STNBR JREF(2) A STADR1 JREF(2) ... A K CMCUST A K STNBR DThomas@lpw-mdi.com on 05/04/99 01:34:20 PM Please respond to MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com@Internet To: Midrange-L@midrange.com@Internet cc: Subject: DB2 Query Manager - newbie questions 1) I want to verify that we are not overlooking some basic functionality of DB2. Is there any type of repository or data dictionary where relations (ie join conditions) between files can be stored? Without this, we've been using 'template' queries for typical file combinations which users copy and use as their starting point in developing a query. I attended a session at Comdex a few weeks ago and in the MS Sqlserver 7.0 demo it appeared that file relationships are maintained within the database. 2) Is there a way to force page breaks for various break levels specified in report formatting? 3) Is there a way for a single detail line to span multiple lines?
