If you are planning to telnet through the proxy server, a proxy client
must be used. Telnet is not a proxyable (word?) protocol and must be
encapsulated using a client of some sort. A popular method is to use
a SOCKS client if you have a SOCKS compatible proxy server or
firewall. A free SOCKS client can be downloaded from the NEC web site
at www.socks.nec.com. (no affiliation) We have several installations
using the SOCKS client successfully. I do not know if MS proxy server
support SOCKS, but it does support Telnet through the MS proxy server
client. Good Luck!
