We have a home grown spool file manager that, prior to us converting it to use API's, we created a PF/LF combination that allowed us to do a WRKOUTQ *PRINT with the output redirected to the database file instead of the printer. This saved all the hastle of having to do a CPYSPLF to a database file, then call an rpg program to read the database file, which then resulted in one having the spool file attributes of all files in an outq. WHAT A MOUTHFUL to get to the point eh? Anyway, all that work went up in smoke when the API's were released. So much for redirection.
