> Glad you enjoyed lurking. As I recall, you put the S/34 in your > garage. Did it at least serve as a nice heater during the winter? I have IBM 5340 s/n 22607 in my garage as a rolling workbench. It contains (where the disk drives used to be) an air compressor and a craftsman tool chest that rolls out the end on heavy duty drawer slides. In the old CPU cage I have many trays from cheap plastic fishing tackle boxes stacked with misc nuts, bolts etc etc. Where the diskette unit used to be sits a battery charger and a light on a retractable cord. Where the power supply sat are shelves for hand and power tools. All the doors have had the latches removed because the grounding clips hold them well enough (and you can never find that crochet hook when you need it!). I also wired electrical outlets on the thing and for the final touch the master power switch actually functions along with the LOAD button to enable power to the outlets, light, and air compressor. Oh, and one other thing, try not to hit it with the car, it's real hard on the car! If anyone cares I have a couple JPGs that I could send privatly. - Larry ps the power requirement tag indicates 6.3 amps at 208 volts so the heat output would be significant!
