But why master this command, unless to support existing code, when:
SQL can do everything it can,
more newbies will understand SQL than OPNQRYF,
SQL is more universal, (see immediately above),
SQL is more understandable.
I often got the OVRDBF wrong on OPNQRYF.  I've done some slick stuff in 
OPNQRYF.  I'll take SQL any day.

Nope... just a very poorly documented utility.. that goes back to the
S/38...
It "was" the original SQL... but so poorly documented, very few folks
use
it for anything other than basic selection and sort(which is a PIA)... I
have seen(but not mastered) some very neat stuff done with the simple
little
command... Even the guy who came up with Qusrtool(Jim Sloan) developed a
front end to make it easier to use. There have been entire books on this
one single command,soooooo... too cheap to buy SQL.. I don't think so..

If you can master this one command, you really have somthing to crow
about.
