Install the IBM AFP 240 printer driver.
When you go to print to this printer you will be printing to a file, and you
should select 'Medium Overlay'.
FTP the file up to the 400 in a folder under QDLS.
CRTPF FILE(library/file) RCDLEN(8201) LVLCHK(*NO)
CPYFRMPCD FROMFLR(folder) TOFILE(library/file) FROMDOC(pcfilename)
TRNTBL(*NONE) TRNFMT(*NOTEXT)
CRTOVL OVL(lib/overlay) FILE(library/file) MBR(member)

To utilize use either the OVRPRTF or the CHGPRTF commands. The parameter to
watch for is FRONTOVL.

We use this all the time. We've designed numerous overlays using Word. Logos
and whatnot.

Subject: Creating and Overlay object

Help.

I am trying to create and Overlay file (object type OVL) for printing a logo
to an HP5SI printer. I have set up CA and I believe an AFP printer. I have
printed my logo to the AFP printer and held the spool file. From the
operations navigator I have created an overlay file. Now (if what I have
done so far is right??) how to I get this to the AS/400 and create my
overlay? CPYFRMPCD will not copy up the file it says it can not find it.
But I have FTP'ed it up and when I use it to create the overlay file I get
a level check message. I can not find a procedure that tells me the steps
to create this overlay file with out the use of the APF Utility. Can it be
done? Can some one tell me where I am going wrong? Thanks in advance for
your help.
