Our standard policy is to change the combination locks on all the doors leading into our department, and the door leading into the computer room, which has a different combination. Building security is alerted that this person should no longer be on the premises, and all department employees are instructed to not allow the person into the department without contacting management first. The person's profiles on all the systems are disabled and/or deleted. This is our standard policy, regardless of the terms under which the person left. We also change all door combinations once a month, and users are required to change their passwords every three months. If a person left and there was suspicion they might try to cause harm, I'm sure extra preventive steps would be taken, though I'm not sure what as that has never happened.
