That is not what I mean. I can get a connection to my AS400 but It will not ever let me enter a user name if the DNS is not correct. This count be the nameserver on the 400 or the nameserver on the PC. For instance. My ISP DNS Server was down last week. I could not FTP to my machine. I was able to connect but not enter a user name. The AS400 was trying to reverse my IP address (1.2.3.4) to a domain name (Mysystem.as400.com). This failed because of the DNS being unavailable. -----Original Message----- From: Rob Berendt <rob@dekko.com> To: MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com <MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com> Date: Thursday, March 11, 1999 5:41 PM Subject: Re: FTP connection >Way I figure it, if they can log in, they're probably hitting the 400. It's probably past the DNS by then. +--- | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +---
