  • Subject: DDM remote system, remote library, remote file - Asking again

I posted this message a few days ago and still can't find the solution.

For a DDM file, we want to retrieve its remote system name, remote library and remote file name programmically within an RPG or CL program.  It appears that the "Retrieve Database File Description (QDBRTVFD)" api does not return that information.  Is there an API or system table that will give us this information?

The only way we've found so far is to do a DSPFD to a spool file, convert it to a DB file, then read the DB file and parse through it.  This technique is slow and tedious, so we would prefer a quicker way.

Thanks in advance,

Bob Luebbe
