Jeff, This is from the PSP (V4R1): New Electronic Customer Support (ECS) ports are now available on the USA IBM service systems that are capable of running sessions at 19.2 K baud (existing ports can run at a maximum of 9.6 K baud). If you have a modem capable of running at this speed (e.g. 7852) you can improve the performance of your ECS sessions by changing the connection number for ECS on your machine to one of the following: 1-800-237-8804 Eastern USA 1-800-525-2834 Western USA The primary use of ECS is to download PTFs via the SNDPTFORD command. For information on how to change the connection number for ECS on your system, refer to Chapter 7 of the AS/400 System Operation publication. Hope this helps! Imagine my surprise when using it for the first time this morning and it connected at 9600 bps. I changed QESLINE to LINESPEED(19200) (the max it would allow) and LINKSPEED(*MAX). I tried it again and it was still at 9600. Is there something else I need to do to the line or controller descriptions? Or a different number to call? The line is still DUPLEX(*HALF) also. Point me to any info. Thanks. - -- - -Jeff jlcrosby@fwi.com +--- | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +---
