Thanks Buck, What I decided to do was: 1. Add an INFDS for the UC spool file 2. Use LR level indicator to check the INFDS file open field. 3. If open, set on an indicator 4. Conditioned the Total record O-specs with the specified indicator It's funny how we regress in order to move forward, (indicator, level conditioning and all). Regards, ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Jon A. There's no detail cycle if there's no input record. In your detail, do something like OPEN PRINTER MOVE *ON PRTOPN 1 This'll tell you if you opened your printer file or not. At LR time: LR PRTOPN IFEQ *ON LR EXCPT printline LR ENDIF Buck Calabro CommSoft, Albany, NY mailto:mcalabro@commsoft.net +--- | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +---
