Jon: Unfortunately this program is written to handle any file, so we simply override the internally defined file and set LVLCHK(*NO). The file is then defined as a bunch of 256 character fields for the maximum record length ... those fields are then broken apart programmatically. david -----Original Message----- From: Jon.Paris@halinfo.it [mailto:Jon.Paris@halinfo.it] Sent: Wednesday, January 13, 1999 2:22 PM To: MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com Subject: Internally described files with null data >> Any suggestions on how to deal with this error? Use the external description and (if you need to redefine the field structure) use the record format as an externally described data structure and put your "I specs" in there. +--- | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +--- +--- | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +---
