Hi all, new in OS/400(AS170 V4R3 & 3 AS/36 Virtual machines), I am discovering this system. With S36 I was using IDDU for describe my files in order to QRY them or/and transfer DATA from S36 to PC(for example under PCS36 with TOPC) Under OS/400 in emulation mode(STRS36), if I link the files to the same dictionary as in S36 true machine(previously loaded via RSTS36FLR), I can continue to QRY files as before but file transfer do not use the IDDU descriptions. The description used in this case is the automatic description of 1 field (2 if keyed file: key + data) of total length=length of the file. If I want to transfer as before , I have to describe the file in a file object via a source member type PF in QDDSSRC + compile. Curiously(?!) if a make a description of a file in DDS mode, I can QRY the file. Question: IDDU is it still present under OS/400 only for S36 continuity ?? Is it a Command or CL to create automatically the DDS source from IDDU?? Is it a PC software using only IDDU descriptions for selective transfer under OS/400?? By advance tks for your answers.
