I wanted a generic example of how you could fit error handling
into any RPG program, even S/36 style. One could easily
use EXSR instead.

It has been my experience that very few shops use any
error handling at all. Typically, I have seen *PSSR,
DUMP ENDSR *CANCL, to "gracefully" exit the program.

Perhaps if more people used error handling, they'd
realise the deficiencies in the current setup and then
complain to IBM. I have a suspicion that IBM hasn't
heard many complaints in this area, and so have no
motivation to fix it.
