To All: I agree with John Carr about the speakers going to CUDS. I do almost every night for a while at least, I want to talk to the "BIG" speakers every now and then as well. Maybe one way to encourage the speakers is to allow them to get the drink tickets free. Another thought would be to give speakers COMMON points/credits or what ever they are calling them for attending. (I've been promised these COMMON credits or whatever for 24 months and still have yet to see anything) Regarding smoking: California is going to present a problem with its state laws regarding smoking: however everywhere else, go back to the smoking areas. That way the folks that smoke can also be a part of CUDS. Dry CUDS: DOA Food: Real food would be nice, but maybe too expensive. I don't want the price of COMMON to go up again. One way to stop people from leaving is to have real food available for purchase near by. Not the &^%$#$ that is served during the breaks and lunch, real food. The hotel could do that. How about a Pizza/Hot dog/Burger service? Room: Lately the lights have always been all the way up. Darken the room a little. Not so much that you can't sit a table and draw out a technical solution, but not full up. Entertainment: OK if its not too loud. I remember a special entertainer sponsored by a vendor coming in on Thursday night. (Chicago was the last I remember it at) That might help to get folks to stay for the extra day. Hours: Longer would be nice. Midnight is not too late to stop serving and close by 12:30am or 1:00am. If no one is there or the crowd is too small, close earlier. Maybe folks will come back after dinner. I remember when CUDS was the best part of COMMON and we didn't want to go out to city clubs. It could be that way again when smoking/drinking police are tempered a bit.
