  • Subject: DSPDIRE + F20=Display User Defined Fields

Glenn,

QOKSCHD is definitely one of the more complex APIs, though not quite as
bad as QDBRTVFD. Certainly neither are for the faint of heart (or
developers in a hurry).

As for the outfile support, due to the need to predefine model outfiles
for the various commands, and the potential size of user defined fields
within the outfile, an extension to the existing record formats was not
considered useful. Likewise adding a new record format within the
existing type could cause compatibility problems. One option would be
to create a new type, but this was (obviously) not implemented back when
user defined fields were done.
