The internal search function is temporarily non-functional. The current search engine is no longer viable and we are researching alternatives.
As a stop gap measure, we are using Google's custom search engine service.
If you know of an easy to use, open source, search engine ... please contact support@midrange.com.
Yes, you can change this file. Unless you change a parameter which
violates the capabilities of one of your printers, you should be
OK.
This is a part of a broader problem. Most AS/400 shops choose to
routinely make changes to IBM supplied objects. These changes might
include:
- Changing command defaults (CHGCMDDFT)
- Changing file descriptions (CHGPRTF QPSPLPRT , for example)
- Changing the security on certain objects (to support some packages'
needs)
The problem becomes one of "remembering" what was changed
at the next release update. We don't like creating duplicate
objects in the library list because the underlying object may change in
the next release & you may not remember your changes.
What we do is to create a CL program which does all of these
changes. We then re-run the program after each release update in
order to re-install the changes. This provides both a consistent
procedure and a permanent means of documentation!
Hope this helps!
