As we don't really care what happens to our old S/36, last year I changed the 
date to 12/31/99 and let it run.
It didn't die.

Are you actually saying the S/36 will actually stop working on 1/1/99?  I 
have a client who we have been converting S/36 to AS400 for the past 2 years 
now, we still have a few left and will not wrap up until around march of 99. 
Is this to say they won't work after Jan?
