Programmer rates/hr for programming RPG, COBOL, queries, etc., goes through the roof due to tonnes of ignoramous CEO's not realizing their Y2K exposure adn are faced with fix it or going out of business... 5. There will be a prep course for senior systems people to become professional witnesses for Y2K litigation...primarily against the kind of dorks mentioned in #2. 6. Now that AOL, Netscape and sun have a major hold on the browser market, and since it's in JAVA, you'll see JAVA start to be taken seriousely....it may even become THE ubiquitous language of the 21st century...well, at least for the first 3 years... :) 7. Al will continue to include midrange-l on his web page. 8. Common will eliminate CRE's, do ALOT more with local user groups. This is goodness if handled right... 9. Al's kid's teacher will continue to hear more about AIX, NT and OS/390 from IBM and v.little about OS/400...(see newsletter archives, www.wash-midrange.org, Aug '98 newsletter). 10. There will by only 1 upgrade to os/400 in '99. 11. There will be a internet simulcast of AS/400 training... 12. More ignoramic preachers will declare Y2K to be the cause of the apocalypse...so send money to their causes while you still can...:) :) :) 13. "palm tops" will finally come out with enough resouces and power to do more than tell me I have a dentist appt next July 18th.... 14.
