In a word: 401K

Anybody who has the ability to participate in a 401K and doesn't, is
just telling their employer "No, I don't want that money...you just
keep it".

Even if your employer is not making any matching contributions, because
of the way the tax's work, you still get a very large return on
investment.

And do not let your employer say "we are to small to have a 401K".
Now days, even very small companies can have a 401K.  Cornerstone
Communications does (with matching!) and we are a small company.  And
with small companies, it actually works out that the 401K plan does not
cost anything in post-tax dollars to the employer.  It is a true
Win-Win situation.
