  • Subject: Why was the DEBUG Op Code not carried over to RPL/ILE?

I was asked today by another consultant why the DEBUG Op Code is not
valid in RPG/ILE. I told her that it, as well as the FREE Op Code, were not
supported in RPG/ILE. I can understand why FREE is not, but I could
only surmise that DEBUG was omitted because of the Source Debugger.
Was there some compelling reason that this was omitted? I never missed
it because I never used it. This lady's client does use it occasionally. Is
there a simple alternative that will provide the same functionality?
