Pete, No, there isn't an order by, but the transition to a "unioned" query is what is now causing the problem. One thing that is different with Access than any of the other packages I have dealt with is that it wants to know the fields that identify unique records. Another interesting phenomena was that it demanded to know how multiple files were related before I could define the query (normally, you can define the relationships inside the query). It just piques my interest that something about Access is throwing a CHGQRYA into the server job. Bill > Is the query possibly using an "order by" clause? I saw something similar >recently.
