Eric raises a good point. Does a programmer have to know about communications? starting and stopping an AS/400? What if the programmer is well versed in arrays, the RPG cycle, file design, troubleshooting, screens and screen design, subfiles, and is wonderful with users, but doesn't know a bif from a trigger from a data queue? Does this mean this programmer is not worth hiring for a y2k conversion project? Does it mean the programmer isn't a good programmer, or is not at an advanced skill level?
