depending what you want to do, have you considered 3270/5250 screen
scrapers?  I have found is taking an NT box (hehehehe... flame on) and
sticking a product called Screen Surfer ( http://www.screensurfer.com ) on
it the quickest, most non-intrusive way of getting at existing applications
on the 400.

I'm not talking about hitting just databases on the 400, the options for
that are unlimited, but using existing applications without putting any
separate progs on the 400...

The users take their browsers and hit that NT box. Screen Surfer hits the
400 via 5250 or 3270, changes the datastream to HTML and sends it back to
the browser.  The very cool thing about SS as compared to other scrapers is
that it has  a scripting language for customizing the screens (so you don't
just get glorified green screens) called SurferScript...

Remember, I'm simply saying an external web server is JUST ONE OPTION... it
works well in some situations and is not right for others...
