If you had TCP/IP, you had choices.

But being hanged to twinax without a twinax laser printers, you can try the protocol converters.

1 - Output from AS400 : any of the twinax ports

2 - Hook the twinax cable into a protocol converter ( AGILE Optima 5250, see www.agileinc.com for info ). It's twinax input is programmable (switch, address, etc.)

3 - AGILE has up to three programmable outputs (one parallel and two serial, you can change traffic, speed, ...).

4 - The rest is a parallel or serial cable to connect your printer of choice.

It works fine, with lots of AFP functions. Multiple printers are allowed.
Agile first made them for XES protocol, but as long as I know they
have Postscript - PCL adapters too.
