On SAVxxx commands use
Data compression . . . . . . . . DTACPR *DEV
Data compaction . . . . . . . . COMPACT *DEV
to get best combination of compression/compaction for a specific
device.
Again, only real reason to change is if you need to create a tape for
backward compatibility to another drive.

Did the letter have a date ?
I'm wondering about the IDRC feature - does this imply that it is PART
of the
drive/AS/400 or something you can get and why wouldn't it be "active"
? :-)
