1) It's SEU not SEC. STRSEU not STRSEC. 2) You will need the following 57xxPW1 Application development tools. xx varies by which release of OS/400 you are on. 3) Since you desire to do RPG programming you will also need 57xxRG1 - RPG. 4) It is possible to edit and compile CL without SEU or the rest of the Application Development tools. I wouldn't want to, but I've done it in a pinch. CRTCLPGM should be on all 400's. 5) If you want to use imbedded SQL in your RPG then you'll also need 57xxST1 - DB2 Query Manager and SQL Development Kit for AS/400. 6) Now to open this up for controversy. Some might recommend an alternative editor such as CODE/400 or the numerous other ones out there. I see no need for the increased cost, learning curve, development time, risk of losing work when the PC locks up versus the constant saves of SEU, lack of integration with new user commands, check in/out procedures, etc. It's your personal choice. Excuse me while I run for the bomb shelter. d2ba@xtra.co.nz on 09/29/98 06:37:40 AM Please respond to MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com@Internet To: MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com@Internet cc: Subject: Beginers Q about SEC,PDM,SDA Hi All, Help Please when I type STRSEC,STRPDM,STRSDA to activate ABOVE tools I get following response "Command STRXXX in *LIB not found.
