I disagree with this. It may only save a few lines of code here, maybe a few there. But, when you are working with large programs, it saves a lot of lines of code. Saving a few lines of code is not my argument. I beleive it would make the code easier to read, hence easier to understand and maintain later. I do this for my job everyday. I am starting to get more and more converts to RPG/LE. It's slow, but I am making headway. The reason that I am, is because RPG/LE is easier to read and is much faster to code in once you learn. After I get them hooked, we start on procedures, service programs, activation groups, etc. I know that Java and the web are the hot new topics, but the people coding RPG need things to help them do the everyday stuff, like keeping them ole legacy apps working. I know it's boring, but management still harps on it. I tend to agree with David regarding the proposals for %RANGE and %LIST. At best, these would only save a few lines of code in a program. +--- | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +---
