     Venu,

If testing an alpha date field, it would actually be eight bytes,
not six. You have to have separator characters in the string thus
adding two additional characters. (ie DATE = '98/09/21')

     HTH :)

Hi All,

I need some help in one of our problems here. I am doing a TEST(D) in my RPGIV
as

*YMD TEST(D) Alpha6

We have to compile the pgms at V3R2M0. So when we tried to compile this at
V3R2M0, we ran into compile error "Result field too small to contains *YMD/
format.

Then we changed it to

*YMD TEST(D) Zoned6

This time it got compiled. The manual says that if the result field is numeric,
the digit portions of the date field are tested and if it is character, both
digit and separators are tested.

Is there something hidden in this? Is this anyway related to the compile
problem we faced? TIA.
