1) I can't see how this would be a compatibility issue.
2) If it ends up being a Permanent Restriction then the feature is next to
useless, i.e. a pathetic attempt to "give in" to whining users (we've been
whining about it for years!) and deliver a crippled function.

 I think Dave should stand his ground and insist on a real fix.
