In the "bad" old days, if one needed some "new" accounts, they just assigned a "new" customer number to various installed accounts but placed all of the "new" accounts under one "Master" accounts so the bills, etc showed up at the right accounts.... There is NO doubt that there is a ton of new 400's being sold, but not for the reasons you would normallly think of... The new new software subscription is a prime example of "tinkering" with the system to make things "better" and in the process, burning a ton of customers(9401-150) that thought they fell under the umbrella... The new plan proably is a good idea, but it was presented so badly, that people really gag at the idea of "having" to pay for somthing that they may or may not want... I just read where there isn't much consideration for people who upgrade downward in processor groups, while going up in horse power in the same family.... Because of price/performance you actually could end up paying more than you need,,,neat trick..... I'm sure that wasn't considered in the big group meeting where the new plan was dreamed up.... IBM has the amazing ability to really tick off their very happy and pleased customer base with the flick of a switch.... but I wander away from the original subject....sorry... +--- | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +---
