Actually I would prefer a test designed to demonstrate a person's areas of knowledge; a test that is geared for illumination rather than a pass/fail sort of thing. The AS/400 has become so broad and so deep that a person could be really good as some one thing but not so good at anything else. Does one need to know data queues to work in most RPG shops? What about the RPG cycle? For some shops it is vital yet in other shops it is anathema. The same with security, machine operation, Client Access, ILE, and most other pieces of the AS/400 puzzle. The problem is that we need skills. I would rather have more >people able to pass a reasonable test, than have IBM identify for me the >people with exceptional skills who are good test takers. -- ----------------------------------------------------------- boothm@ibm.net Booth Martin ----------------------------------------------------------- +--- | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +---
