Well ya, duh. 
Reorganize Phyical File Member.   It kinda looks like that is what
it was designed to do.   You could do some fancy-smancy stuff like 
Removing the Logicial file members before.  This will speed up the 
reorg it self a lot if there are lots of access paths and lots of records.
But then you would have to add them back afterwards.   But you would have
the decision of which ones, and when.  

Or change the access path maint on the LF's to *Rebuild  before the 
reorg and change back to *DLY or *IMMED afterwards.  This would be safer
since programs would not blow up for no member.

We just changed all the files to reuse deleted records *YES.  To hell with 
any performance difference. 

  Remember, I was one of the people using date
data types when everyone else was saying "oh,oh,oh, the performance"  
#$%#@ the performance.   We never noticed any performance problems.
YOU NEVER NOTICE in most cases.  (Disclaimer;there are always 
individual case exceptions. I'm speaking of rules of thumb here)
