  • Subject: Program defined options on menus

I am setting up a menu using the DDS menu keywords. On the menu and choice
keywords, I am using a field to hold the text that the program is to fill.
The DDS looks OK, the program uses the same fields (the fields are defined
as P for program to system field), yet the compiler still needs RPG to
program define the fields (leading me to feel that the DDS IO is not coming
into the compiler (ILE)).

The RPG pgm fills the fields prior to writing the main menu bar format, yet
all pgm filled fields are blank. Under debug, they are filled in. My guess
is that there is a keyword or something missing to define the fields to the
compiler, but I can't find it and there are no good examples in the
manuals.

Any ideas?

Thanks

john
